One New Man ConferenceBy David Lindsay A call to prayer and tears The Forsaken PromiseBy HATIKVAH FILM TRUST In November 1917 the British government made a pledge with the Jewish people through the Balfour Declaration to help establish a Jewish National Home in the territory known as Palestine. Following the end of World War I this declaration was incorporated into the Treaty of Versailles and later ratified at both San Remo and London. At that time the League of Nations awarded the Mandate for Palestine to Great Britain with the proviso that the Balfour Declaration was implemented along with "close Jewish settlement in the Land". As difficulties arose Britain slowly watered down the implementation of the treaty leading to the eventual forsaking of the Balfour Declaration through the MacDonald White Paper of 1939 and the closure of the borders of Palestine to hundreds of thousands of Jewish people fleeing from Nazi occupied Europe. Praying for the nations (Israel & the UK)By Ray Borlase Scripture reminds us that we need to pray “on behalf of all men” for those in “authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” (1 Timothy 2:2) Paul continued by saying that this “is good and acceptable in the sight of God” and that He “desires all men to be saved…” |
